Study shows chronic disease online program offers patients a return on investment and improve the ability to auto manage health conditions

A study by HealthMedia, Inc. and Highmark Inc., published in the November/December edition of American Journal of health promotion shows online program delivers a return on investment and improving the patient self manage health conditions chronic.

The study, which took place in the course of five years, analyzed data member participating in HealthMedia ® CARE ® for health, a digital health online coaching program designed to teach participants the necessary skills to help manage chronic conditions.

The study results showed that 93 percent of the members of Highmark reported to be able to better manage their conditions. Per person per year health care costs were $757 lower predicted for the participants to the matched nonparticipants. This cost savings generated a return on investment of $9.89 per dollar spent on the program, a year of participation.
