2011 Oxford Health Alliance Annual Summit: Chronic Epidemic Disease: from raising awareness to driving change
The Oxford Health Alliance (OxHA) annual meeting on 14-15 April 2011 will be held at Keble College and the theme is “Chronic epidemic disease: from raising awareness to driving change”, and it will explore strategies to improve health by reducing the three main risk factors of tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity. A diverse group of participants from around the world – including leading thinkers and activists from health, design, business, government, the professions and civil society – will come together to address solutions and find ways of turning them into action.
The 2011 Summit is being hosted by Professor David Matthews and Pam Dyson, Executive Director and CEO of OxHA respectively, and will feature updates on OxHA’s most significant research project - Community Interventions for Health (CIH), presentations on the three main risk factors including one on tobacco in the developing world by Professor Martin McKee. In addition, Sir Ian Gilmore will be exploring the role of alcohol as a risk factor for chronic disease.
