Wellness Institute a health club or fitness centre that functions as a comprehensive medical fitness facility teaching patrons to become well and to stay well. This organization runs the Get Better Together Program a free six-week workshop for people with ongoing health conditions to take control of their health, learn to solve problems and set goals to live a better life in each of the 2 ½-hour sessions. Participants receive a copy of the book Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and are encouraged to bring a support person. This program is beneficial for patients with multiple chronic diseases because it helps participants learn strategies to control pain, deal with fatigue and frustration, start a basic exercise program, handle stress and eat well to live well. A session on medication usage allows participants to brainstorm ways to remember to take medications as well as offers them guidelines on making treatment decisions to help them become better partners with all members of the health care team.
