The Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services is a governmental organization that reports to the Directorate for Health but is scientifically and professionally independent. The Centre has no authority to develop health policy or responsibility to implement policies. It gathers and disseminates evidence about the effects and quality of methods and interventions used in all parts of the health services. The incorporation of this evidence into current practice is another central activity of the Centre.
